NYSERDA Launches New York State’s First Solar Thermal Incentive Program to Spur
Replacement of Electric Hot Water Systems with Solar Hot Water Systems

To help New York State increase its use of renewable energy, the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has launched the state’s first incentive program for solar thermal systems, which produce hot water from solar power.The 5-year, $25 million program provides incentives of up to $4,000 per site for eligible single- and multi-family residences and up to $25,000 per site for eligible commercial and nonprofit customers who currently use electricity to produce hot water.

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), after receiving a record number of applications for its wind incentive program for homeowners, farmers, businesses and municipalities, has expanded the funding availability for another six months and added another $1.4 million in incentive dollars.

NYSERDA has offered this program in several incarnations since 2008 in an effort to reduce the state's greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on fossil fuels. This current version is on track to be the most popular ever - 33 applications have been received since the program was announced in October, more than any similar period in the past.

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is encouraging businesses, schools and other large facilities to take advantage of a special renewable energy incentive program specifically for New York City and the lower the Hudson Valley for large-scale photovoltaic and biogas power initiatives.

NYSERDA is investing $150 million over the next five years in the program and will award up to $30 million a year, of which $25 million is targeted for New York City or southern Westchester County.

New FlexTech Opportunity - Benchmarking Pilot

NYSERDA is pleased to announce the Benchmarking Pilot, a new FlexTech initiative that provides benchmarking and onsite operational assessments. Selected FlexTech Consultants will benchmark participating facilities with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Portfolio Manager and develop site-specific reports recommending operational or system modifications that may result in energy savings.
